There is one symptom that quietly makes everything else worse.
Sleep loss.
Not just being tired.
But waking up in the middle of the night…
heart racing
body hot
sheets damp
mind suddenly wide awake
And then trying to go back to sleep like nothing happened.
This Is Not Just “Bad Sleep”
For many women, this starts suddenly.
You used to sleep fine.
And now you’re waking up:
at 2am
at 3am
multiple times a night
Sometimes sweating.
Sometimes anxious.
Sometimes for no clear reason at all.
This is not random.
What Is Actually Happening
During perimenopause, hormonal shifts affect how your body regulates temperature and sleep.
That’s where night sweats come in.
A small internal change can trigger your body to:
heat up
sweat
wake you up
Even if the room is cool.
Even if nothing around you changed.
Your body is reacting from the inside out.
Why This Changes Everything
Because sleep is not optional.
When your sleep breaks down, everything else gets harder.
You may notice:
more anxiety
shorter patience
more emotional reactions
brain fog
cravings
low motivation
feeling overwhelmed by normal tasks
It starts to feel like you’re barely keeping up.
Like you’re living in a fog.
The “Zombie” Feeling
This is the part most women don’t expect.
You’re functioning… but not fully.
You’re doing what needs to get done
but everything feels heavier
slower
harder
You may even start thinking:
“What is wrong with me?”
Nothing is “wrong” with you.
Your body is under strain from lack of rest.
Why This Matters So Much
Because many women try to fix everything else first.
They push harder.
Try to be more disciplined.
Try to “get back on track.”
But if sleep is broken, everything else will feel harder than it should.
Sleep is not a side issue.
It is foundational.
When To Pay Attention
If you are:
waking up sweating
waking up anxious
waking multiple times a night
feeling exhausted no matter how long you sleep
Pay attention to it.
Track it.
Bring it up to your doctor if it continues.
Action Step
Start with awareness.
Notice:
What time you wake up
How often it happens
If sweating is involved
How you feel the next day
You don’t need to fix everything right now.
Just start seeing it clearly.
You’re not losing control.
Your body is asking for support.
And the more clearly you see it…
the less confusing it becomes.
I am always rooting for you!
